First Visit

reception area at SCEDYour initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining how we can help you, your treatment options and costs.  When you have decided how you wish to proceed, a second appointment will be made to provide treatment on another day. Occasionally, it may be possible to commence treatment on your first visit.  This will be in situations where you are in pain or have a cosmetic problem that requires immediate treatment.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your referral form and any X-rays (if applicable)
  • Your completed medical and dental questionnaire which will have been posted out to you before your first visit.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 16 at the consultation visit.

Please alert the clinic if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.)

X-Rays

If your dentist has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our centre either by post or by e-mail. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our centre. If additional x-rays are necessary, they can be taken at our centre.  All of our X-rays are taken using digital technology which uses considerably less radiation than normal x-rays and gives us instant images. We are also one of the few centres in Scotland to have our own CT scanner which allows us to take 3D images which provides invaluable information, especially when we are considering implant treatment.
