Restorative Dentistry and Implantology

Abid graduated from the Glasgow Dental School before undertaking his diploma of membership of the faculty of dental surgery in Edinburgh and a masters degree at Glasgow University.  He has trained with the best all over the world and limits his practice to implants and the management of complex restorative cases having placed over 1500 implants.

Abid has a particular interest in immediate loading and is the first surgeon outside London to carry out the NobelGuide Teeth-in-a-Hour™.  Abid has also recently been appointed as an advisor for the British Society of Implantology.  He has also been appointed to the editorial board for the publication Implant Dentistry and is part of a worldwide multicenter working group researching aspects of implantology. 

Abid was voted 47th most influential person in dentistry in 2007.  He was also recently awarded first place at the Nobel Biocare World tour in London presenting a Nobel Guide “teeth in an hour™ case study’.  He was recently voted best young dentist in Scotland. He publishes regularly in dental journals and appears regularly in the media for his pioneering work. In the 2008 poll for most influential person in dentistry he was voted 37th.  He is a trainer for NobelGuide and NobelActive.  He has also recently been appointed trustee for the riverside museum appeal and is regularly involved in charity events.

Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics

Mark graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1991. In 1998, he studied for a Masters degree in Dental Primary Care at the University of Glasgow and graduated in 2000.

In the pursuit of providing the highest quality of dental care and on completion of his Masters degree he decided to move into private practice and now works exclusively in this sector.

Mark has developed a Special Interest in Endodontics (root treatment) and continues to grow a successful referral base from dental practices throughout Scotland. All cases are treated routinely with the operating microscope and 3.5 times magnification. He is actively involved in continuing postgraduate education both nationally and internationally and is a member of the British Endodontic Society. He is actively involved in the teaching of endodontics to General Dental Practitioners.

Mark also completes complex restorative and cosmetic cases involving porcelain laminate veneers, all ceramic crowns and fixed bridgework on a regular basis and has developed an additional interest in the one visit CEREC all ceramic restorative technique.

Mark is committed to continually improving the patient’s dental experience and views each day as an opportunity to take his quality of care to a higher level.

Hypnotherapy

Frances qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1967.  Since 1983 she has been employed in the Restorative Department of Glasgow Dental Hospital.  It was there that she developed an interest in hypnotherapy and its application in dentistry.

She completed the BSMDH (Scotland) courses in 1993 and started practicing hypnotherapy in the Anxiety Clinic in Glasgow Dental Hospital.  In 1998 she gained accreditation from BSMDH (Scotland).

Frances has lectured extensively on dental hypnotherapy and has organised lecture courses for dentists as part of the postgraduate lecture programme since 2001.

She is a member of Council of the Royal Society of Medicine Hypnosis and Psychosomatic Medicine Section and has served as Honorary Secretary of the section.
