Wrinkle Treatment

Fractora Blog: Part 1

Have you ever wanted a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance with very little downtime? Fractora could be the treatment for you.

How does Fractora work?

Fractora is a fractional rejuvenation and resurfacing treatment that can be used to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve the texture of lax skin and give patients a more youthful appearance. Fractora is slightly invasive procedure using a matrix of micro pins to ablate the skins surface. Research shows using this matrix of micro pins allows treatment to be carried out with minimal downtime, promotes quicker healing and can provide clients with exceptional results.

Patient – 55 year old Female

Prior to treatment the patient attended for an in depth consultation to determine if she was suitable for Fractora treatment. We discussed the patient’s main concerns – which included skin laxity around face and neck, wrinkles and some scarring. Patient’s goals – patient would like to see an improvement in the appearance of skin. After discussing varies treatment options including Botox/Fillers, the patient opted for Fractora.

In part 1 of our blog, we will discuss the treatment parameters used on our initial treatment and the noticeable results achieved before our second treatment.

Treatment 1

The skin surface is thoroughly cleansed before topical anaesthetic is applied. This is then left on the skin for minimum of 20 minutes before the process is repeated again.  After this time the excess topical anaesthetic is removed and skin is thoroughly cleansed for a final time before starting treatment.

Tip selection – there are various different Fractora tips available and it is important to select the correct tip depending treatment area/skin texture being treated. I opted to use a combination of 24 coated and 60 pin tips which are used to treat lax skin and fine lines. The appointment time was roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes long.

Patient Feedback

Feedback from our patient suggested that she was aware we were carrying out the treatment however she did not experience any discomfort. When asked to rate the treatment for pain/discomfort out of 10 – our patient described this as a 2/3. After care instructions were given and a follow up appointment arranged for 5 weeks time.

5 weeks later

The patient returned to the clinic for her review/second Fractora treatment on areas of the face. It is clear to see there has been a remarkable improvement in the appearance and texture of the skin on our patient’s neck. She was absolutely delighted with the results so far and felt like she had a ‘new neck’. A further treatment was carried out at this appointment to continue treating wrinkles and scarring on our patients face.

Please follow our story for further updates and photos on our patient’s progress.

Dermal fillers are made of biodegradable hyaluronic acid in a liquid gel form and are provided to qualified aesthetics practitioners such as The Scottish Centre for Excellence in Dentistry, in pre-filled syringes ready for injection.

Hyaluronic acid is the substance naturally present in our cells which can help keep our skin smooth and supple. As we age, the levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin can decrease and we lose moisture, leading to lines and wrinkles.

Using a very fine needle, the gels are injected, creating volume which will lift the skin and smooth out surface lines and wrinkles to give a fresher, younger looking appearance. What more could you want for a Mother’s Day treat?

The ageing process can cause your lips to become thinner and eventually lose definition as you get older. The most common place to notice this is around the ‘Cupid’s Bow’ area of the lips. Lip augmentation is a great solution to help restore your youthful looking plump lips and is especially effective for women with thinning lips.
