Over the past few years, more and more adults have been looking into ways to achieve a straighter smile. Modern dentistry has come a long way and traditional braces are not the only option when it comes to teeth straightening.
Adults who wish to straighten their teeth quickly and discreetly, can choose different types of fixed or removed appliances and achieve straight teeth in as little as six months. At The Scottish Centre for Excellence in Dentistry in Glasgow, we are dedicated to helping you choose the right treatment, and transforming your smile.
Ceramic braces are very popular among adults and young teenagers, because unlike metal braces, they consist of tooth-coloured or clear brackets and wires. Ceramic braces work just like conventional braces by putting pressure on your teeth to help them move into their right position. Treatment times vary for each individual.
Lingual braces (also known as invisible braces) have brackets and wires attached to the interior of the teeth, opposite the tongue. This way they are virtually invisible, even when you smile. Unlike conventional braces, lingual braces are custom-made for your teeth. Lingual braces are just as effective as metal braces and treatment times are the same, though, if you wish to move only your front teeth, treatment time can be considerably reduced to six months or less.
Invisalign invisible aligners
Unlike fixed braces, Invisalign consists of plastic, removable aligners that fit snugly over your teeth and gums. Each aligners is designed to gradually move your teeth into their right position and is worn for about two weeks, before being replaced with the next one in the series.
Treatment time varies for every individual, but you can achieve straighter teeth with Invisalign in as little as six months. Since they are removable, Invisalign aligners can be taken out to eat and clean your teeth, however, you must wear at least 22 hours per day for effective treatment.
